While in residence at Arteles Creative Centre, I found an old notebook written in 1981 in the attic of the studio building. After translating some of text with Google Translate, I realized the author was writing tragic love poetry. With help from Ida Mantere, the residency assistant, the notebook was entirely translated from Finnish to English. The work consists of 30 small depictions of memories in the process of dissolving. For each piece, I applied foraged charcoal and ashes from the on-site sauna to the paper and covered it in honey. Words from Kikka's* notebook were stamped into the honey coated surface. The honey illuminates the ashes and disintegrates the text.

All works are charcoal, ashes, honey, and ink on paper, sizes variable.
