Installation for ...but these sunsets are better (2019)

Keeping (2017 - 2018) is a site-specific installation of around 150 small bulb-shaped sculptures. Each piece is made from wire, plaster, beeswax, charcoal, and gold leaf. This work is a response to my forgetting about an important piece of myself and the process therein of remembering. The small chrysalis-shaped forms resemble a safe transitional space, preserved by wax embedded with hand-ground charcoal. The charcoal, a remnant of saunas taken during a residency in Finland, resemble that which is neglected and is thus illuminated with gold.
