Memorial to the Essence that Devours Us (2017) is made from coal ashes and honey. After each burn with the oven in my apartment, the ashes were sifted and then formed into a clay using honey. The honey, an ancient preservative, acts as a fragile binder for the small particles. The ashes, a residue left behind, remains delicately preserved in honey.
